Today sees the release of “Scream Your Name,” the first single and video from HELL’S ADDICTION’S long awaited new album, entitled 9 O’Clock Horses and due on 29 September through Weapon Records / Vanity Music Group.
“Scream Your Name” sees the Leicester, UK based quintet come tearing out of the gate with the perfect track to introduce the public to the 9 O’Clock Horses release. Energetic, powerful and melodic the track is summed up best by frontman Ben Sargent as “debauchery piled into a convertible v8 on its way to the Sunset Strip for a night of rock n roll.” The song tells the all too real tale of one half of a relationship trying their best to save things after their partner wanders one too many times then finally giving in and allowing it to follow through to its obvious conclusion.
The animated video concept for the track was a collective effort between the band and Darren Walsh of Empire Animate in Canada. Sargent gives the lowdown on the video conception: “We haven’t got a Motley Crue budget so filming our version of “Girls Girls Girls” was out of the question. It was obvious to us that we could capture everything we wanted to with an animated video. We’re really happy with how the video turned out, hopefully our fans will agree.” The 100% animated video is a throwback to the 1980s and Hollywood’s famous Whisky a-Go-Go and Rainbow nightclubs and the attitude and party atmosphere associated with that era and location. “We’re all fans of 80’s rock in this band and there’s always been a massive draw towards the Sunset Strip days,“the band collectively agrees. “Look at the music released around the mid to late 80’s – those songs are still some of the biggest rock anthems today.”
